Hi blog friends!  Happy Saturday!  I hope everyone is enjoying getting ready for the new school year.  It is such a fun and exciting time of year!  This year I am returning to my part time job in a reteaching position for grades 1-5.  I am happy to be getting back into a routine!

Today I am posting my newest Chicka Chicka Day Packet!  This is a packet that has lessons for both Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and Chicka Chicka 1 2 3.  It is a great packet to use if you have a Chicka Chicka day/week in your classroom.  It would also work great as a substitute day packet!  Be sure to check it out!

Chicka Chicka 1 2 3!!

I have been on a Chicka Chicka roll lately!  I promise I will be moving on at some point.  I just love these books so much and they are GREAT to use at the beginning of the year!
Today I am posting my newest packet on TPT.  For this packet I used the book Chicka Chicka 1 2 3.  It is such a fun book to read aloud and is great to use during math time!

I created a Top It game that goes along with the book.  In the book the numbers are trying to get to the top of the apple tree.  This is a game that can be played in groups of two.

To play the game each student will get one apple tree mat.  Then they will shuffle the cards and put them in the middle of the table.  The students will each draw one card.  The student with the biggest number gets to keep the cards and put them on his/her apple tree mat.  The student with the most cards at the end wins the game.  This would be great for a math small group or math station.

In order to use this game throughout the year I have created four different sets.  You can purchase them all at one time and you will be ready for the whole year.

Be sure to check out other Chicka Chicka games and activities in my TPT store!

Olympics and More Chicka Chicka

Hi everyone!  I don’t know about anyone else but I am LOVING the Olympics!  USA….USA…USA!!!  I have clocked some major hours on the couch!  I am obsessed with the swimming.  The Olympic swim trials were held here in Omaha.   I got to see all of the swimming athletes up close.  They are amazing!  It was so much fun to see them live in Nebraska and now in London on TV!

Here is a picture of me and my husband at the trials!

These are a couple of pictures of Missy Franklin from the trials!  It was so cool to see her so close.  She is my favorite swimmer!  She was so much fun to watch in Omaha and now I am loving watching her swim on TV!

I also enjoyed this view of the mens 50m free!  :)  Go USA!!!

Okay, I am done with my Olympic talk.  School is staring soon!  I have been working on several Chicka Chicka Boom Boom activities for small groups.  Today I am sharing this capital and lowercase letter sort.  This would be a great small group lesson.  Students will sort letters by capital and lowercase.  Be sure to download this for FREE!

Be sure to check out my TPT store for more Chicka Chicka Games!  I hope everyone is enjoying the last days of summer and also the Olympics!!  Go USA!
